1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Gita Kavach on Android or iOS, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use this application.

2. Description of Service

Gita Kavach is a mindful app blocker that encourages users to read Bhagavad Gita slokas before accessing selected applications.

Android: the app uses an accessibility service to detect when a blocked app is opened, and displays a full-screen overlay to redirect the user into the reading flow.
iOS: the app uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to shield selected apps and enforce blocking on a daily schedule.

3. Platform-Specific Permissions

Android

Accessibility Service

The accessibility service is used solely to detect when a blocked app comes to the foreground. It does not read, collect, or store any content from your screen or other apps.

Display Over Other Apps (Overlay)

The overlay permission is used only to display the Gita Kavach reading screen when a blocked app is detected. It does not collect screen content from other apps.

iOS

Screen Time (Family Controls)

The app requests Screen Time authorization to shield apps and categories you select. This uses Apple's on-device FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks. Your selection is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server.

Local Notifications

On iOS, the app may send local notifications to prompt you to complete your sloka reading when you interact with the block shield. These notifications are generated entirely on your device.

4. Privacy

Gita Kavach stores all user data including streaks, mood logs, bookmarks, reading history, blocked apps, and profile information locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.

5. Subscription

Gita Kavach offers a Pro subscription that unlocks app blocking enforcement and other premium features.

Subscriptions are billed through the platform store you use: Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS)
Pricing, billing cycles, and trial periods (if any) are shown at the time of purchase
To cancel, manage your subscription through your Google Play or App Store account settings
We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds — all billing disputes must be directed to Google Play or the App Store under their respective refund policies
Downgrading to the free tier disables native blocking enforcement; locally stored selections are retained

6. Limitation of Liability

Gita Kavach is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for any damages arising from your use of this application, including but not limited to failure to block apps, data loss, or device-level issues caused by system permission changes.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

8. Restrictions

You agree not to:

Use the app for unlawful or unintended purposes.
Reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to circumvent its core functions.
Exploit bugs or errors in the app.

We reserve the right to restrict access if the app is used in ways that violate these terms or compromise its functionality.

9. Age Requirement

The app is rated 4+ on the App Store and intended for users who are able to engage with its spiritual purpose. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising use by minors.
